Who leads Smart Fed
Founded by a Silver Star, twice-wounded Marine veteran.
Smart Fed Supply is being formed by Philip A. McCulloch Jr., Sergeant, USMC (former), its intended majority owner and managing member. On 8 January 2011 in Sangin, Afghanistan, as squad leader with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, his squad was ambushed by three machine-gun positions. He led the counter-attack, took point, destroyed an enemy fighting position with an AT-4 — and was wounded in the leg while deliberately drawing fire to reunite his squad. For that six-hour engagement he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action — the nation's third-highest decoration for valor in combat.
He holds two Purple Hearts and two Combat Action Ribbons, and later served as a Marine Corps Drill Instructor at MCRD San Diego, where the Silver Star was presented in February 2012. The Marine veteran who once carried a rifle for his country is building a company to supply the ones who still do — to the standard he was held to downrange: reliable, compliant, on time.
